Beer and billiards have been a major draw for bars since the beginning of time as this Allston haunt for college students and the under-30 crowd knows all too well. Big City reels in a mix of beginners and aspiring pros with its sprawling second-floor playground featuring 21 pool tables and views overlooking all of the action on the street below. There’s also no fooling when it comes to the bar’s selection of 80 draft beers, with everything from ambers and barley wine to scotch ales and stouts. No rookie when it comes to suds, owner Mark Kadish knows a thing or two about Big City’s big taps. He made a name for himself years ago with one of the city’s original beer bars, the Sunset Grill, just a few doors down the block. For the most part, though, all the crowds care about is themselves and their beer, but there is plenty of digestion going on. Pizzas come topped with everything from peanut sauce and gingered chicken to ratatouille and are made with beer in the dough.
